Erell Hannah

After studying theater and the sociology of the body and gender, Erell Hannah began her career as a queer performer and political activist.

To better understand the violence she faced, both from the police and from the alternative milieu from which she came, Erell completed her education with a degree in psychology and training in violence against women. She began publishing political and feminist posts on the Internet, focusing on the various forms that masculinism takes, in both individual and institutional spheres, in both right- and left-wing circles.

Erell launched her comicstrip blog in 2020, with her friend Fred Cham on the drawing board. Their comics quickly find an audience on social networks: the “Ils abusent grave” Instagram account, known for its popular political-scientific strips, now has over 45,000 subscribers. While continuing to write for the networks, in 2022 Erell published her first medium-format comic strip (“Réparer la honte” in Traits-d'union magazine, illustrated by Juliette Boutant), and her first series (“Retour vers les ordures”, published in Mâtin quel journal, illustrated by Camille Seguin). In 2023, the blog compilation Ils abusent grave, illustrated by Fred Cham, was published by Hachette-Les Insolentes. This humorous collection, which mixes political reflections with scientific references, finished in the top 10 best-selling feminist books of the year and stands out as a long-seller.

With the support of L'Agency, Erell is currently working on a graphic novel about sexism in the art world, as well as a graphic essay on the history of body representations.
