Léane Alestra

Léane Alestra is an author, feminist activist and media activist. Trained as a sociologist and specialist in gender studies, she is also the creator of the Mécréantes media, present on audio platforms as well as on the Médiapart blog, Facebook and Instagram. Her podcast contains thirteen audio documentaries with hundreds of thousands of listens, and her articles are read by a very active community of around 90,000 members. She is also a board member of Manifesto XXI, the media of cultural and social emergences, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. She is one of 12 people selected by Le Monde in 2023 for its highly selective portrait catalog “La Relève”, an initiative aimed at highlighting emerging French personalities.

Well-known for her precise, pedagogical analyses of antifeminist discourse and gender norms, Léane Alestra is the author of Les hommes hétéros le sont-ils vraiment? an essay that challenges the heterosexual norm by questioning male homosocial relations. Published in March 2023 by JC Lattès, the title has received rave reviews from L'Obs, Libération, Le Monde, France Inter, Les Inrocks and ELLE. It was ranked second best book of 2023 by SensCritique. Léane Alestra previously co-wrote Nos amours radicales, published by Les Insolentes in 2021.
